The Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard University has announced Texu Kim as one of the recipients of its 2023 commissions for new music. Each year, the foundation awards commissions to select American composers to support the creation of new musical works and bring contemporary concert music closer to the public.
Texu Kim joins a distinguished group of composers honored in 2023, including Taylor Brook, LaTasha Bundy, Christopher Castro, Chen Yi, Raven Chacon, Christopher Fisher-Lochhead, Aaron Helgeson, Ivette Herryman Rodríguez, Aaron Kernis, Shuying Li, Miya Masaoka, Weston Olencki, and Anna Weesner.
The Fromm Music Foundation has a long history of fostering contemporary music, having commissioned nearly 500 new compositions since its founding in 1952. The foundation also supports music programs and festivals nationwide, including the Tanglewood Festival of Contemporary Music and the American Composers Orchestra, and provides fellowships and residencies for both established and emerging composers.
